This parsha starts in the middle of a paragraph , it's a closed one, and there are a lot of interpretations as to why this has been established as such.
1) Jacob wanted to say when the Messiah would come. Which i think is not true, since Jesus says no one knows except the Father.
Why did Jacob lived less than the other patriarchs, the answer is because Jacob unwillingly and unintellingetly did a bad thing.

All of Jacob sons were tsadik, everyone of them remain within judaism, eve Joseph, a king in Egypt, remain faithful to Hashem. Instead, both Abraham and Isaac, had sons who were not righteous.
When we heard good news we have to thank Hashem, so Jacob thanked God after he heard Joseph promise.
Kings deserve respect, we have to do it to leadership, royalty. When Moshe spoke to Pharaoh he spoke respectfully.

For me, had Jacob did not adopt them, the ones that were born before HE CAME to Egypt, the tribe of Joseph would have drift apart....and remain in Egypt and its way, this way they reached or were under the protection of Jacob.
Israel, is a state compose of 12 states, for the jews the blessing that Israel would become MANY NATIONS, a company of nations, means to this, that this 2 tribes would be include.
Wow, its amazing to see that they are willing to follow God's paths.
Each of them will take a portion in the land, Ruben and Simon have the same numerical number as Ephraim and Manasseh. The following siblings will be added to the tribes of their brothers.
In would seem to appear that Joseph was the son that in the end received the double portion.

Verse 8, they does Jacob said Who are these ??? Referring to Joseph kids...According to the Talmud, while he was under Hashem presence, he saw two descendants of their children that brought sorrow to Israel....Joseph, showed him the covenant; this children were given to me by Hashem, so Jacob said bring them to me so i can bless them.(the right side represents kindness)..
It's amazing to see that both Isaac and Jacob could not see properly at that time....and in both cases, the blessing were directed to the 2nd son, the ones that normally wasn't expected.
In Judaism the right takes precedence.
In this case, its amazing to see that Eprahim unlike him, did not have to do anything to receive the blessing of the 1st born. This was premeditated, with wisdom, even though he knew.
Then Jacob starts blessing Joseph: May the angel that has redeemed me from all harm, may he bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac. Even though, they were born in Egypt, they are still called by the name of their fathers.
Every good deed a person does creates an angel, every good miztvah we do creates an angel, so Jacob had many angels to dispose of.
Fish, nobody knows what's going on in the ocean, the concealed world.
The Angel, of course represents Hashem. Let them grow, rooted in the word fish: this is the unique special blessing, that they should be like fish, on dry land everybody knows what's going on, but on the ocean, nobody knows what's going on, it's private and concealed. So the byproduct is that there is not evil. They should prospect but they should stay under the radar, so no one could harass them, not evil eye can behold or catch them.
Jewish people, believe that all the tribes of Israel are called descendants of Joseph, this is because there is part in the torah or tanak, that says that we are part sons of Israel and Joseph, so Joseph is part of every jew.
Here again, we can see a connection between Jacob (Hashem) and Jesus (Joseph), we are sons and daughter of both of them, and incredible, with Joseph come to other tribes, tribes that become part of Israel, the ones that were supposed to be last, are now first....We have indeed receive the first fruits.....and the last are at the same time first...hahaha
We learn here by Jacobs behavior that the tzadiks don't make mistakes.

The judges, we see again, judge over the other tribes. We see that the kings hat come from Manasseh were not righteous, not that righteous anyway....Can we see a reason here??
Here Jacob, says to Joseph, this whole egyptian thing is temporary. You do not, belong here.
It's amazing to see that Joseph receives a special inheritance over and above his brothers...again a shadow of Jesus, his is placed over and above everyone.
When we wanted to tell them about the Messiah, he could now, but instead he blessed them.
HE WHO KNOWS DOES NOT TELL, HE WHO DOES NOT KNOW TELL.
To know the day when Messiah comes doesn't encourage our service to God. On the other hand, we believe that Messiah comes everyday! That's the way we should live.
Jacob's blessing over his sons:

God always come to our rescues, He blesses us continually.
Rashi says about verse 49:26, says the blessings of your father excel the blessings of my ancestor and the bounty of the eternal hills. May the rest on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the prince of his brothers. Such blessing means that he may expand to the ends of the earth. Although Joseph was one of the 12 tribes, he becomes in one sense one of the Patriarchs, that's why we the jews are also called the sons of Joseph.
The last of Jacobs barahs, blessings, the tribe of Benjamin is like a wolf, he tears his pray in the morning and towards evening he divides the plunder. This is a prophetic statement...There was a great sin committed, a rape, and because of that the tribe of Benjamin was expulsada, and later on they were forgiven. or two it may referred tot he warfare between the tribe of Benhamin and the rest of the tribes of Israel.

Unlike the other great tzadik, it does not say here about Jacob and he died, it just say He was gathered to his people. Who is Jacob?? Jacob is Israel, Jacob is us, is the continuity of his people, he lives forever.
Of course he died, he was embalmed, but just as his seed lives, he lives. In a sense every tzadik is eternal, a tzakid lives on in his teaching, in his children. King Davig, is also alive and well. David is alive. Tzadiks dont die!...On the very same note, we can say this about Christ!
Tremendous blessing came to Egypt just because of Jacob. Here comes the difficult request. Joseph needs to get this authorization. The Jews said that it was not easy for Pharaoh to let Jacob go, since he wanted him to stay there.
When Joseph came to Parahoh he was 30 years old, at that moment God sent Gabriel, and taught Joseph 70 languages, he spoke all the languages in the world. So all see that he is an educated guy. The culture and tradition in Egypt says that the one who know more languages must be make king. Oath, we are very respectful of oath. That's why Pharaoh said, "Go and bury your father in keeping with you oath"...it is not that him all of the sudden became a moral guy.

He used to honor his father, by inviting and dining with his brothers at the same table, but he later, after Jacob passed away he stopped doing that.
Why did Joseph stopped inviting his brothers to have dinner? Because Jacob, wanted him, as the king, to be seated in the head of the table, and he felt uncomfortable because of this.
Joseph was so taken aback by such message that h wept.
If Hashem does not want to harm you, there is no way, that me just me can harm you. Therefore, dont be afraid i will take care of you and your little ones.
It is because of your deed, that the whole world was saved.
When someone offend us, or hurt us we should be forgiving. I love this part that says that he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

During Joseph reign, there was a booming in economy in Egypt, that-s why nothing is said about that time. Joseph was king for 80 years, so also a man who is 80 years old will come and redeem you from the enslave here in Egypt. Wow, valaturin
Joseph entered the children of Israel into an oath, just like Jacob did with him. Interesting that he continues to emulate his daddy. He spoke to the leaders that they should remember this oath, only tell the leaders.
Joseph coffin was put to the bottom of the river, and then his coffin came out just before they were leaving Egypt. Joseph's name has the numerical value of the Nile, and also something else gives us the name Nile, that's how the Jews know the coffin was in the Nile.
